The Copenhagen Peace Research Institute (Danish name: Center for Freds-og Konfliktforskning) started operating in January 1985.

The Institutes main research programmes were: Military Restructuring (MIL); European Security (EUR); Nordic-Baltic Security in a Transforming Europe (NORD); Intra-State Conflicts: Causes and Peace Strategies (CONF); Global Governance and Peace (GOV).
