Abstract

Paolo Persichetti is an Italian political prisoner who defines Italian prisons as “social dumps” towards which all miseries and irregularities seem to converge. He shows through this interview how the penitentiary organization excludes as a principle the constitution of public spaces within this institution and reduces to the maximum any exercise of citizenship. A large proportion of detainees are de facto or by the law deprived of the possibility to put into practice their civil rights.
