December 2014

Economist Intelligence Unit

Abstract

Rising wages in China is one of the key global economic trends for 2015, but the extent to which its manufacturing competitiveness is being impacted is still opaque. How do China's manufacturing costs compare across its provinces and prefectures, and to other key manufacturing locations? 'Still making it' provides robust estimates of labour compensation forecast out to 2020, in-depth data analysis of the relationship between earnings and productivity growth, as well as charting important historic trends in manufacturing labour costs in China.
