Abstract

The preponderance of Realism in the study of International Relations has relegated to a secondary spot the consideration of domestic factors in the analysis of the external behavior of a State. Nevertheless, since the end of the Cold War, the concern for domestic questions has increased. In the case of Brazil, globalization together with the strengthening of democracy in the Latin American region have made foreign policy more interesting for Brazilian society. Given these conditions, it is important to discuss: who are the main agents involved in the formulation and execution of Brazilian foreign policy nowadays? Which are the political, social and economic factors belonging to the domestic structure that influence the decision-making process?
