This article analyzes the public financing of National Political Associations in Mexico during 2000-2005. It studies particularly the normative basis of financing and the sanctions they have received due to different irregularities in their annual reports of incomes and expenditures. This work underlines that even though the existence of a good fiscal legislation, several NPA´s still perform illegal practices, thus the reinforcement and supervision of sanctions becomes necessary in order to obtain a better engagement to transparency and to an effective accountability.
