In June 2006 Burundi was placed on the Peacebuilding Commission’s (PBC) agenda, just as the peacekeeping mission (ONUB) was drawing down and the Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Burundi (BINUB) was starting up. Burundi was one of the first two countries added to the PBC's agenda. This field review by Dr. Shepard Forman, Gigja Sorensen and Rahul Chandran, provides a thorough assessment of the PBC's impact in Burundi as well as constructive suggestions that will allow for the formation of a successful peacebuilding strategy.
