India and the United States have tremendous opportunity for cooperation in the domain of clean technologies to ensure sustainable energy security for both countries. A joint report by the Atlantic Council and CII released today, ahead of US President Barack Obama’s India visit in November, suggests that expanding cooperation will be essential to overcoming energy shortages in the coming decades.
Numerous opportunities for cooperation are identified in the report; both countries should establish an umbrella Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that covers all promising clean energy technologies such as clean coal technologies, bio-fuels, hydrogen/fuel cells and renewables.
