A Search for a Philosophy for the New Millennium
Message from the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, J C Kapur .
A Philosophy for the New Millennium
Science and Technology are altering our environment and human values cannot keep pace with the rapidly shifting parameters. The new scientists have begun to question the values on which our current approaches to life and development are structured in society. There is a need for a new philosophy of life.
Jerzy A Wojciechowski writes that human beings are increasingly becoming aware of the limitations of the resources and the environment. This makes it imperative for us to understand ‘who we are’? and what our role in life is, in order to restructure society accordingly.
Episteme: The Meaning of Knowledge in the Natural Sciences and our Experience of Reality
Hans-Peter Dürr shares insights into the images of reality unveiled by the new sciences and the interconnectivity of all phenomena.
Cosmosophy, a Philosophy for the New Millennium
Côme Carpentier de Gourdon in his article reveals how Homo sapiens are being overtaken by robo sapiens. The author calls for a new philosophy which he calls Cosmosophy, an ideal synthesis of scientific knowledge and spirituality.
Sankhya: An Ancient Philosophy Unifies Science and Religion

The Philosophy of Peace
Karan Singh feels peace is the only remedy to save mankind and more and more people are seeking various ways to achieve this. According to the author, violence and peace are inbuilt in human consciousness but one has to consciously work towards achieving inner and external peace.
Peace and Tolerance: The Paths to Coexistence
Jorge Valero feels that with all the talk about unity in diversity only few are able to tolerate and appreciate other cultures and civilisations. Often a hate for another community, race or group is because of the lack of understanding of their cultures that are different from our own. Our ability to coexist and tolerate other cultures alone can assure peace and human survival.
Mondragon: The Loving Society that is Our Inevitable Ruture
Terry Mollner maintains that if certain ethics and values like honesty, cooperation, and sincerity are followed, and love and concern for others are the predominant emotions, then even in the business world, one can create an almost ideal world where people are able to help out each other to ensure that everyone and every venture is able to succeed.
Review Essay
Linking Conflict & Peace with Human rights and Democracy: Gender, Nation and State
Rita Manchanda reviews three gender specific books where women are concerned with violence and conflict. It is particularly important in today’s context because women, at least in the urban areas, have moved from the hearth and home into the outside real world of violence and hatred, and are able to provide a touch of sanity.

Erratum
Vol 6 No 2
In the article September 11 Events And The Resulting Global Situation by Côme Carpentier de Gourdon, carried in the above mentioned issue, on page 113, third line of the second paragraph stands corrected to "He [Khalid Sheikh Muhammed] studied in North Carolina (USA) and is an expert of the ‘Jehad Manual’ drafted by an American Green Beret officer ‘hired’ by Bin Laden." He did not study in North Korea as was erroneously mentioned earlier. The error is regretted. Ed.
