Empowerment Of The People: A Focus

The movement towards liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation of the politico-socio-techno-economic institutions has only accelerated the processes towards centralisation of human activities, concentration of wealth and power, and deprivation of a large number of people worldwide. It has created imbalances and tensions of a vast magnitude, including spawning terrorism. However, in the midst of all this, many centres of excellence and institutions are silently working towards empowering the deprived sections of society to create an order, unfettered by human greed and exploitation. This focus on empowerment of the people looks at some unique examples of people and institutions who have made outstanding contributions towards working for a sustainable future.
