Removing E-Barriers - Ways to Facilitate the Growth of the Internet in Germany and Europe
April 7, Münster, Germany

The conference is hosted in a joint effort by the Institute for Information, Telecommunications and Media Law, Münster, University, and the Programme in Comparative Media Law and Policy, Wolfson College, University of Oxford. First, it explores factors that influence the use of the Internet from the user perspective. Afterwards, the conference examines the sociological and economic consequences that result from broad societal Internet access. The third part of the conference discusses specific strategies to increase use of the Internet. It explores questions surrounding the introduction of flatrate pricing models, the distribution of online services via cable networks and digital television services, and governmental initiatives to encourage use of the Internet. Finally, the conference will discuss how national governments, international actors and corporations can implement these new strategies and the effect that implementation will have on the domestic levels and international levels of society. The conference is sponsored by AOL Europe.
