Counter Terrorist Trends and Analysis: Volume 6, Issue 6 (PDF)
The three articles in this issue offer in-depth analyses into leftist oriented political violence and terrorism by examining certain communist groups in the past and the present: (1) Franck Emmanuel Marre evaluates the current peace talks between the Colombian government and the Marxist guerrilla group, Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia, better known as FARC; (2) Andreas Wimmer discusses the newly emerging militant leftist groups in Indonesia, which comprise the People's Democratic Party (Partai Rakyat Demokrat/PRD) and associated Marxist groups as well as anarchist and eco-terrorist groups; (3) Daniela Irrera reviews the evolution of the Red Brigades in the Cold War era and the counterterrorism strategy adopted by the Italian state against the group - the study of which is valuable to countries facing similar threats today.
