Negotiating the complexities of the twenty-first century will require increasingly sophisticated understandings of the dynamics of other societies — and the regional and global political, economic, and cultural systems in which we live. To help meet these challenges, International and Area Studies (IAS) is mandated to link and expand the international units on campus and to enlarge the university's international contributions and visibility. IAS is headed by Dean David K. Leonard, Professor of Political Science.
